What Encaustic Art Institute does
Mission
Promote public awareness, understanding, and appreciation of encaustic art. Also, offer space and programs for children and professional encaustic artists, to exchange information and technique for working with wax. And, provide all encaustic artists with a place to display and sell their art. The museum of encaustic art aims to grow america's largest, most extensive, and best represented encaustic art collection. The collection includes several categories of encaustic art, such as encaustic painting, encaustic with paper and photography, encaustic with mixed media, encaustic sculpture, encaustic monotypes, and cold wax. We intend to draw attention of this medium to the public at large through enticing exhibits, tours/hands-on demonstrations, and collaboratively working with other community organizations.
As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.
Program
Ongoing operation of the Encaustic Art Institute (eai) - provides memberships, education, workshops, juried exhibitions and semi-annual on- linepublication of encaustic arts magazine. In addition, eai operates the museum of encaustic art (moeart.org) - housing the largest collection of encaustic art in the united states with over 450 works of art in its permanent collection. The 2500 square foot museum is open to the public offering rotating events, special exhibitions, and an on-line catalog of the entire permanent collection.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2019 to 2020, from $21k to $57k (+175%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
65% of ENCAUSTIC ART INSTITUTE’s revenue is contributions — about as donation-reliant as the typical peer (78% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
