Programs
Artist support - en foco serves artists on a city-wide basis as well as throughout nys with 90% of artists reading in the 5 boros. Fellowships are awarded to 10 artists annually through a peer-review process. Each year fellowship recipients are awarded $1,500 each and their work is exhibited in a local venue and featured in a nueva luz issue. The community exhibitions program features exhibitions hosted in alternative spaces, providing opportunities for fellowship applicants. En foco also offers other grants programs like the media arts fund, which supports 5 media-based artists, and the nueva luz study center commissioning fund, which awarded 3 artists with the opportunity to create unique works in response to the nueva luz digital archives.

Notable contributors include artists carrie mae weems, sophie rivera, dawoud bey; essayists lucy lippard, deborah willis, elizabeth ferrer.

As both the archive and the demand for information expand, the study center will become a vital resource for the history and legacy of en foco since its founding.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $224k to $982k (+339%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2020 28% · 2021 30% · 2022 9% · 2023 42% · 2024 36% · 2025 12%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
