What Elbowbumpkid Inc does

Mission

Our mission is to provide families impacted by type 1 diabetes with the opportunity to connect, thrive, learn and grow despite the diagnosis.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Family support kits for tid, newly diagnosed kits for celia: we have fulfilled over 50 requests since 1/1/25 for our program. The impact is immeasurable - these items are a lifeline for new families that are mentally and financial impacted by the t1d diagnosis. We streamline information, provide starter non rx supplies and connect them to offer guidance navigating the early stages of managing the condition. The celiac t1d diagnosis kit is a newer initiative aimed at helping families cope with the compounded challenges of both diagnoses, with a focus on economic equity for local support & free online resources where you live.

  2. College program: college connections for students managing t1d away from home. Once younger t1d's leave for college they lose the local community they have known but we don't forget them - we created a program where our nonprofit sends resources & low blood sugar kits. 2 scholarshps were awarded in 2025.

Our impact increases organically as new families are diagnosed & engage with our nonprofit through health care professionals & other referrals to our network. In 2025 alone, the organization reached over 1,000 individuals and hosted 32 community events. Over 80% of events were free for the person living with t1d. Caregiver & family member participation was heavily subsidized by donations & grants.

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $12 → $380.

2 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 40% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of ELBOWBUMPKID INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

ELBOWBUMPKID INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 41% of grant income and the top three 95%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

82% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund ELBOWBUMPKID INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 93% · 2022 89% · 2023 87% — diversifying over time.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $15k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
