01What it does

What Dream Catcher Stables Inc does

Mission

To provide a place in perpetuity where people with disabilities can be successful, equal and capable, growing to their maximum life's potential through interaction with horses in a positive environment. We accomplish our mission by providing recreational, educational, and sport programming, including vocational/pre-vocational opportunities to youth at-risk and persons with disabilities. Individuals are accepted without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Teaching people with disabilities to ride and care for horses and preparing them for the Top Hands Horse show experience: 8 horses helped 16 athletes win 6 belt buckles, 7 second, 10 third, 10 fourth, 8 fifth, and 4 sixth place medals, and 1 honorable mentions. A total of 78 athletes (60 with positive changes) participated in our program (4 were both athletes and volunteers). Weekday program continued two days a week on a limited scale. Avery S graduated high school already with her Associates degree and entered Baylor University Honors College with the ultimate goals of Neonatologist. Chelsea graduated high school and after working at MacDonalds garnered a full time position as a clerical assistant. Weather challenged us severely in all seasons this year but we still completed 563 lessons.

  2. Returning to positive life pathways has two components. At-risk youth from one behavioral group home come to learn about horse care as well as ride. Their goal is to take life lessons learned with horses and adjust their own thinking so that they can pursue positive life pathways. Youth in this group home are not necessarily from our part of Texas. The boys group home listed in 2024 acquired their own in-house therapeutic riding program. One of their youth graduated back to family and now comes as part of our weekday Mosaic program. The girls group home (still with us) continues to guide their youth toward positive outcomes. Adjudicated youth assist with facility maintenance. This year 1 such student gave 10.5 hours weeding, picking up litter and/or manure, and washing fence. Adjudicated youth leave understanding that doing the right thing is a better choice in life. Success rate for these students stands at approximately 95% choosing to stay in school and complete their education.

  3. Cross generation volunteers (85) are the staff that provide for all aspects of Dream Catcher Stables Inc. In 2025 they gave 2530 hours providing lessons, feeding and caring for our horses. Volunteers include Youth (age 14 and over), Adults, and Senior citizens. In addition to volunteering their time; Teens learn about the world from retired military volunteers. Adults dealing with cancer come to share their skills and be uplifted by the horses, other volunteers, and athletes too. La'Creatia stopped by one day looking for a place to create a program for persons with PTSD and a place to help herself too. Completing her bachelors degree in 2024 she launched our PTSD program - Unbroken Hooves in 2025 and attained CHA Standard Instructor Levee 2 Western Level 1 English credentials.. Eric, athlete and volunteer now has a permanent job working with horses. Emerald is in her second year of college with a goal of Occupational Therapist.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 5 funders, grant income rose $10k → $17k.

3 of 12 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 70% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of DREAM CATCHER STABLES INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

DREAM CATCHER STABLES INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 46% of grant income and the top three 77%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

70% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund DREAM CATCHER STABLES INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How long its funders stay

25% of DREAM CATCHER STABLES INC's funders are still giving 3 years after their first grant; 33% give in more than one year at all.

Where its funders are

70% of DREAM CATCHER STABLES INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $24k that is directly attributable, 64% of it comes from Texas funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $56k arriving through sponsors registered in 3 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
