01What it does

What Denniston Hill Corp does

Mission

To create a sustainable environment in which to pursue artistic development through residences, exhibitions, and education programs and foster dialogue across disciplines.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. Artist residency program and related public programs for annual residency program. Each year we host 35-40 artists to spend 2-3 weeks at our 200- acre campus to create new work, build community, and experiment with new ideas. Artists receive a pro-rated stipend and are reimbursed for their travel. Public programs feature residency alumni as well as other artists and cultural producers. These exhibitions, talks, perfomances, seminars, and events contribute to the arts discourse and serve under- recognized artists and communities. All events are free to bolster our public engagement efforts as well as help raise public awareness of our work.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 3 funders, grant income rose $30k → $39k.

4 of 15 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 8% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of DENNISTON HILL CORP’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $126k arriving through sponsors registered in 4 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
