01What it does

What Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas does

Mission

Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those whose need us the most to realize their full potential as a productive, responsible and caring citizen.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Program

On its FY2024 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

We closed out our charter school and associated EIN. We obtained a new EIN for our coninued focus on youth development services. In June 2025, the organization obtained a new EIN (61-2247488) in order to continue operating solely as the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas youth development organization separate from the former Texas Preparatory School structure and closure-related operations. The former EIN remained associated with the charter school closure process and related operations through the audited fiscal year ending August 31, 2025.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).

  1. Education and Career: Club members participate in programs like Junior Staff, Project Learn, Power Hour, Money Matters, Club Service Career Launch and A K thru 6th Grade Public Charter School. The Power Hour Program is in Educational Technology.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 2 funders to 6 funders, grant income rose $46k → $174k.

2 of 11 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 7% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas leans on a few funders — its largest provides 47% of grant income and the top three 85%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

88% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $43k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
