What Book Drive for Kids does
Mission
Book Drive for Kids seeks to create a cultrue of literacy by providing books to disadvantaged children for independent reading that reinforces and increases reading skills developed during the school year.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
Free book fairs were held in schools that serve a population of greater than 70% economically disadvantaged students. During the 2024-2025 school year the organization hosted 69 book fairs with over 37,500 students attending the fairs and over 81,000 books given away. The soaring summer reading program is specifically created for lower income students in pre-k through 2nd grade with limited access to reading materials at home. The intended purpose is to institute reading over the summer and to reinforce reading skills developed over the school year.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $103k to $212k (+105%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
82% of BOOK DRIVE FOR KIDS’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (57% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2019 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 5 funders, grant income rose $0 → $17k.
2 of 7 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 11% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $15k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
