Programs

  1. We also answered the call of matthew 5:16 to improve the quality of life for people in need by working together with our target communites sponsoring educational initiatives in each of the countries we work in. We train single mothers in sewing and cosmetology. In nicaragua we sponsor pastoral conferences providing training in theology, biblical study, church planting and growth, family care and counseling so that pastors are able to fulfill their calling and more effectively operate their church. These local churches are the central point of the other work that 516now does in the surrounding community.

  3. We also answered the call of matthew 5:16 to improve the quality of life for people in need by working together with our target communites by contuing support through our micro-finance programs. We operate these programs in el savador, the dominican republic and belize. El salvador micro loans are given to women who have graduated training programs in cosmetology or sewing to help them open and operate a small business with their trade. In belize, loans are made to people in the community to help with farming, small business, retail stores. In the dr, loans are made through local haitian churches to pastors so they have a means of support. Jobs in the dr are difficult to find, the micro loans allows them to buy plants to begin a small farm, livestock, or items to resell.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $40 → $17.

2 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 49% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of 516 NOW INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

516 NOW INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 50% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

49% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund 516 NOW INC.

Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 100% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — broadly stable.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

516 NOW INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside South Carolina, across 2 states in all.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $25k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
