What World United Ministry Inc does
Mission
Provide safe refuge, training, and life change for youth in the Knoxville, Tennessee community.
As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
The Safe Haven Empowerment House is a program of World United Ministries dedicated to reaching the lost, broken and often hopeless youth of Knoxville. The Safe Haven program offers relationship, love, mentorship, nutrition, and activity programs designed to provide alternatives for these at-risk youth. In 2022, the Safe Haven House was seriously damaged after a deadly drag race in front of our building resulted in one of the cars crashing through our building, destroying the stairs to the second floor where a family of 6 were living. Consequently, the latter half of 2022 was dedicated to rebuilding the Safe Haven House and we anticipate reoccupying the space in the summer of 2023.
$14,447 spent24% of program spendingWorld United Ministries provides emergency shelter and food to youth and families in need in the Knoxville community. When the Safe Haven House is full or not able to be used, we use our resources to put families in hotel rooms or other accommodations until they are able to find alternative housing.
$31,601 spent52% of program spendingWorld United Ministries provides regular neighborhood outreach days through our Love Thy Neighbor program that include meals, worship, preaching, and neighborly relationship building. We also support youth year-round with personal development and health through a variety of life-skills mentoring programs, sports activities, computer learning, biblical studies, and mentorship.

Who funds it, year by year
2021 → 2022: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $20k → $30k.
1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 30% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of WORLD UNITED MINISTRY INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
WORLD UNITED MINISTRY INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 40% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 2 funders.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund WORLD UNITED MINISTRY INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2021 100% · 2022 51% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
WORLD UNITED MINISTRY INC draws 100% of its grant income from funders outside Tennessee, across 2 states in all.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $15k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
