What Western New York Sustainable Business Roundtable Ltd does

Mission

By leveraging the collective knowledge of a diverse business pool, sbr offers members practical advise, inspiration, and access to tools that can be implemented to reduce environmental impact while achieving economic gain and risk reduction. We provide opportunities for wny businesses to become more sustainable through connection to tools and resources, educational events, and networking platforms. Our ultimate vision is a wny region where all businesses and people can thrive in an environmentally sustainable community.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. In 2025, sbr hosted 11 educational events on 4 identified "themes": strategic sustainability implementation, renewable energy, water stewardship, and workforce development. All told, our educational events attracted over 600 individuals. We collaborated with 7 other organizations on these 11 educational events and made a concerted effort to promote these events not only to sbr members, but to local entrepreneurs, students, other nonprofit organizations, and minority- and women-owned businesses. In addition to these 11 events, we hosted our annual sustainable business summit in november. The summit was attended by 200+ business leaders, students, and entrepreneurs. We brought in over 20 experts on a variety of different sustainability topics to participate in our summit, and for the first time ever, we offered 2 optional deep-dive workshops: one on sustainable leadership, and one on using data to inform sustainable decision making. We allocated 30 summit tickets specifically to enable entrepreneurs from marginalized communities and students to attend at no charge. The 2025 summit was a no-waste event, meaning we eliminated all single-use plastics from the event and composted as…

  2. Through our work as a subcontractor of the nyserda clean energy hub program in wny, we continued to educate and share resources about the transition to clean energy in our region. Specifically, we developed an energy efficiency webinar series designed for nonprofit leaders and business owners in disadvantaged communities (dac's) across wny. Alongside these webinars, we developed 6 digital resources for attendees covering energy efficiency incentives, transportation and employment programs. All told, more than 100 individuals attended these webinars (the event attendance numbers in the first accomplishment do not include those from this program).

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of WESTERN NEW YORK SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE LTD’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of WESTERN NEW YORK SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE LTD's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $26 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
