01What it does

What Voices of the World does

Mission

Voices of the World was created to support missionaries who provide humanitarian aid and care for hurting and dying people in africa (with a current focus on mozambique), especially those who die alone without family or friends around. The missionaries care for and fill the needs of orphans who are left behind after aids, cancer, malaria and many other illnesses take their toll on parents who die in mozambique. They speak for these precious dying men, women and children, and the family they leave behind, who cannot speak for themselves. The primary mechanism for fulfilling the mission of Voices of the World is via casa ahava.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Casa ahava (which means "house of love") is a home for cancer patients who find themselves far from friends and family on treatment and fighting for their lives. Missionaries spend their days helping cancer patients live as comfortable as possible, as healthy as possible and as loved as possible. Casa ahava is the first hospice and convalescence home in the mozambique.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 2% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of VOICES OF THE WORLD’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $383 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
