What Victor Museum Improvement Association does
Mission
The museum's mission is to collect, preserve, research, and interpret the history of victor and the communities of the cripple creek mining district for the education and enjoyment of the citizens of victor, the residents of teller county, and the general public. In 2025, we hosted 6,737 visitors.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
The museum was able to improve its access to the first floor and mining room display with the installation of an ada ramp in the spring of 2025. That project required the reworking of the mining room displays. The new displays include large format photos, more secure artifact displays, and information on mining processes and events such as the creation of the carlton tunnel. The next phase is installing new entry doors, which began in the fall. This will increase our security, accessibility, and seal out the elements - the old doors were not functional, nor weather- or critter- proof. More work on the building in 2025 included painting the north wall and the exterior trim and refreshing paint on some interior walls. Upstairs, we rejuvenated our second lowell thomas room to include a display on lowell thomas jr. We were able to pay staff to scan over 500 negatives, while volunteers scanned another 200 photos and archived several items in the mining room display.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2024 to 2025, from $974k to $1.2M (+21%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
