What Vermilion Country School does
Mission
At Vermilion Country School, we do not believe in an assembly line education, where students rarely have opportunities to guide their own programming. Each student has unique interests and abilities. So, we develop a highly-personalized project-based learning plan that allows the student to engage more deeply in the process, while meeting all State standards. Vermilion Country School provides a supportive environment where students are encouraged to explore, collaborate, and find success in their own way, both inside and outside the classroom.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Program
On its FY2024 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.
Started offering flexible learning schedules for students.
Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).
Vermilion Country School served approximately 61 students ranging in grades from 7 to 12. We operated a project based instructional program that focused on providing structure for all students to receive core instruction and credit recovery support as needed. Students receive personalized instruction due to our small size. We provide a supportive environment where students are encouraged to explore, collaborate, and find success in their own way, both inside and outside the classroom. Graduated 100% of eligible seniors, 80% attending 4 year universities.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2023 to 2024, from $239k to $616k (+158%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $108 → $37.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of Vermilion Country School’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Vermilion Country School's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $265 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
