What True Shepherd Ministries does
Mission
The specific purpose of this corporation is to provide help and resourses to the poor and needy in haiti. This encompases providing resources, including food and sheep for local ministers and medical care to those in need. We partner with the people of rural haiti to provide simple, sustainable soulutions for the economically impoverished nation of haiti. Through the life giving message of jesus christ and his gospel, we endeavor to build strong relationships on the grounds that in turn it will produce lasting transformation. We believe in equipping the next generation of haitian leaders with sound biblical wisdom so they can lead their own communities into a healthier and more stable future.
As stated on its FY2021 Form 990-EZ.
Program
We will continue the work providing training and resources to local community leaders to help build and support schools, churches, and medical clinics in rural Haiti. Gifts will also continue to supply monthly stipends to pastors, school staff, and nurses who provide services to their communities. True Shepherd also gives resources and funding for micro loans and/or gifts. All of these provide a sustainable income for the local community.2021 was an incredibly challenging year for Haiti and True Shepherd. The country has fallen further into chaos and dysfunction with the assassination of the president and ongoing challenges including crime, kidnappings, and the price of goods skyrocketing. The Lords grace abounds and his work is never derailed. So many people, through these troubling times, come to the Lord through the gospel, and that is the heart of TrueShepherd. Our sheep and shop programs have continued to be a huge blessing to those in most need across the region. The waiting list to attend the adult training school continues to grow and this year more students than ever graduated with life changing skills in sewing and computer pro?ciency. Our classic school (K-8th grade)…
The first program described on its most recent Form 990-EZ.
The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2019 to 2020, from $27k to $45k (+69%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of TRUE SHEPHERD MINISTRIES’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (100% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 5 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income rose $69 → $96.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of TRUE SHEPHERD MINISTRIES’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of TRUE SHEPHERD MINISTRIES's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $415 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
