01What it does

What The True Professional does

Mission

The True Professional's mission is to improve the quality of services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing professional development and consulting services to the staff and leadership at residential agencies serving this community.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2025 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

The organization added 2 new programs during 2025 and are identified in form 990,part iii, line 4b and 4c.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Ttp delivered its foundational development course to 10 cohorts of direct support professionals ("dsps") and residential managers who provide services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities ("idd"). The course teaches participants how to elevate the quality of services they provide by instilling a philosophy of excellence and adherence to ttp's proprietary 5 pillars of excellence in service delivery. The course includes: 1) a live, in-person workshop, 2) access to 1huddle, a mobile gamified learning platform that supports ongoing skill development, 3) on-site observation of selected participants with structured data collection on service quality, and 4) a leadership development session to equip agency leaders with strategies and tools to sustain improvements and align frontline practices with organizational expectations.

  2. Ttp initiated development of a second program, excellence in supports and outcomes ("eso") consulting. This work focused on designing a new service model intended to further strengthen the quality of supports provided to individuals with idd, while also improving workforce stability and effectiveness. Key activities included: 1) defining program goals, 2) developing an implementation framework which included policies and procedures and roles and responsibilities, and 3) authoring a research-based paper examining strategies to improve professionalism in service quality across multiple industries and apply those lessons to idd services. During this development phase, ttp also identified a pilot agency to support initial implementation and refinement of the eso model. The mission of the eso function is to achieve higher quality supports and outcomes for residents by promoting dignity, lifelong learning, independence, and community integration in alignment with ttp's 5cs, while also increasing job satisfaction and reducing attrition among dsps and residential managers. The strategy to achieve this mission centers on systemically redesigning staff development to continuously…

  3. Ttp developed and launched its workforce transformation and partnerships program through a multi-stakeholder collaboration with service providers, universities, and a leading autism focused foundation. This initiative is designed to strengthen the pipeline of qualified professionals entering the field of services for adults with idd by introducing university students to careers in residential services and establishing a structured pathway for their career development. The program provides graduate and undergraduate students with tuition support, paid employment as dsps working directly with residents at partner service providers, and access to professional development coursework delivered by ttp. During 2025, ttp partnered with a foundation and two universities, recruited candidates, and matriculated its first participant into the program. Ttp also established relationships with additional universities to support future program expansion.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.

2 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 88% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE TRUE PROFESSIONAL’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

THE TRUE PROFESSIONAL leans on a few funders — its largest provides 50% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 2 funders.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 2 funders to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund THE TRUE PROFESSIONAL.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

88% of THE TRUE PROFESSIONAL's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $25k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside New Jersey, across 1 state.

NY

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $175k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
