Mission

The purpose of the organization is the preservation and education of aviation history.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. The Lafayette Foundation sees over 7000 visitors per year come through our museum where we give guided tours of our collection and displays. Our visitors are also able to view our aircraft collection and see flying demonstrations of the aircraft. It is a one of a kind experience where the public can see the original uniforms, memorabilia, and aircraft of some the world's most famous pilots, from world war I, the golden age of aviation, and world war ii.

  2. Every 3rd weekend in may, the museum holds a spring fly-in, open to the public, with 3-5,000 visitors in attendance. It offers living history demonstrations, free museum tours, quarterly guest speakers, and free flying demonstrations of world war I and world war ii aircraft.

Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of THE LAFAYETTE FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of THE LAFAYETTE FOUNDATION's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $38 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
