The american association of immunologists (aai) is an international association representing professionally trained scientists who conduct basic and clinical research on the biology of the immune system. Aai is dedicated to advancing the knowledge of immunology, fostering the interchange of ideas and infomration among investigators, and addressing the potential integration of immunologic principles into clinical practice. Aai serves its members by providing a center for the dissemination of information relevant to the field and its practices such as educational and professional opportunities, scientific meetings, membership-derived issues and opinions, and important social and political matters. Aai owns and publishes the journal of immunology-the largest and most highly cited journal in the field.

Programs
Annual meeting: each year aai holds an annual meeting which draws thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors. Attendees include both aai members and non-members who have an interest in immunology. During the annual meeting, aai offers a variety of lectures, seminars, and symposia on scientific topics related to the field of immunology, which are available to all attendees.much of the content of the annual meeting is focused on the needs and interests of students and trainees in immunology. Trainees may attend the meeting at a significantly reduced costs, and they are encouraged to pursue speaking opportunities at the meeting and to attend programs and seminars geared toward immunology students and early career immunologists. Included among the workshops at the annual meeting are programs on grant writing, funding opportunities for immunologists, careers in science, and professional circumstances and challenges unique to women and underrepresented minorities in science and academics.
