Mission

The Teaching and Learning Collaborative is a 501c3 non-profit organization consisting of educators and community members committed to supporting the growth and development of innovative teachers and groundbreaking schools.

As stated on its FY2026 Form 990.

Program

  1. In FY25/26, the Teaching and Learning Collaborative continued to focus on supporting education in underserved communities. TLC partnered with San Diego Unified School District through QUEST to provide support in seven schools with high percentages of military-connected students. With funding from DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity), TLC facilitated professional development for the teachers and also trained and placed tutors at the partner schools. In the summer program TLC worked with P-12 refugee youth on a variety of arts and science activities which included creating a garden, learning to cook, and doing an art installation at the site. We hosted free community gardening and cooking classes, free family art classes, and free book club meetings in which local teachers and researchers met to discuss inclusion, ways to foster…

1 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 8% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

Teaching and Learning Collaborative Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 89% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

98% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Teaching and Learning Collaborative Inc.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $5k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
