01What it does

What Swiss-California Foundation does

Mission

The primary purpose of the Corporation is to strive to prepare Swiss graduates for key roles in future economic and governmental relationships between Switzerland and Northern California. In addition, this Corporation is formed for the purposes of performing all actions incidental to, or appropriate in, the achievement of the foregoing primary educational purpose.

As stated on its FY2018 Form 990-EZ.

Program

For 18 years now, the Swiss-California Foundation has provided a Swiss graduate with the opportunity to experience the economic and governmental relationships between Switzerland and Northern California first-hand. The Swiss-California Foundation exposes Swiss graduates to the broader business community in Northern California, which complements their academic degree and helps them develop entrepreneurial know-how, a political understanding, and a broad network of contacts. The Swiss graduates annually creates a report on the tourism industry in Sonoma County, and contributes to the success of the Sonoma County Economic Development Board. Last year, the Swiss graduate helped organize a module of a higher education course of a Swiss university, which took place in the San Francisco Bay Area, and thus interacted with both business and academia.

The first program described on its most recent Form 990-EZ.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Swiss-California Foundation’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of Swiss-California Foundation's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $5 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
