What Sv Home Action Fund does

Mission

Established in 2019, sv@home's action fund (svhaf) addresses the housing crisis through civic engagement, leadership development, legislative advocacy and support or opposition of ballot measures that impact affordable housing and homelessness.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2023 return the organization reported starting a significant new program.

Civic leadership program - the action fund administers a recruitment and training program, the civic leadership program, for people who wish to run for elected office or serve on public boards or commissions in santa clara county. The civic leadership program provides basic information on housing policies, communications, and capacity building for various public service roles.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 2).

  1. Civic engagement - in partnership with other organizations, the sv@home action fund (action fund) continued to conduct public education, organizing, and advocacy throughout santa clara county regarding the history of exclusionary housing policies and practices and steps that could be taken at the state and local level to provide redress while expanding housing supply and stability throughout the region. The action fund provided information about housing-related ballot initiatives, housing policy-making, coalition-building, and campaigning to current and potential future civic leaders. (see schedule o for continuation)legislative advocacy - since its inception, the action fund has championed state legislation that seeks to improve and expand the availability of affordable housing and related needs. The action fund's legislative advocacy program ranges from participating in lobbying days of action with partners, writing letters of support or opposition to legislative proposals, convening discussions with local and state elected and civic leaders as well as participating in regional pro-housing coalitions.civic leadership program - the action fund administers a recruitment and…

How concentrated its funding is

SV HOME ACTION FUND leans on a few funders — its largest provides 97% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SV HOME ACTION FUND.
