01What it does

What Summersville Regional Medical Center does

Mission

Above all else, Summersville Regional Medical Center is committed to the care and improvement of human life. In recognition of this commitment, we will strive to deliver quality, cost effective healthcare to the communities we serve

As stated on its FY2019 Form 990.

Program

The hospital provided 12,230 inpatient days of care as follows 1,794 acute intensive care, 1,224 swing bed and 9,325 long-term care. Other services provided include 21,548 outpatient procedures, 8,338 emergency room visits and 28,384 rural health clinic visits. The hospital provides care to patients who meet certain criteria under its charity care policy without charge or at amounts less than its established rates. Charges foregone for charity during the year amounted to 247,686 for hospital services. The level of financial assistance provided by the hospital has decreased over the last couple of years due to the fact that the state of west virginia expanded medicaid. With the medicaid expansion, individuals with income at 138% of the poverty guidelines are now eligible for medicaid. Prior to the medicaid expansion, the level of income to qualify for medicaid was much lower.

How concentrated its funding is

SUMMERSVILLE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER leans on a few funders — its largest provides 87% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund SUMMERSVILLE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER.
