To provide a forum for black surgeons in the field of academics, to share ideas, research, knowledge, and experiences for the benefit of other members and others affiliated with the teaching of surgery and medicine. Currently there are approximately 349 individual members and 64 institutional members.

Membership services and programs-services provided to members include: access to other members and their research, curriculums, and guidence; a forum for a specialized group of medical educators to share developments and changes in a specific area of medical education; an opportunity to attend seminars, conventions, and trade shows related to surgical and medical educational topics and equipment; axcess to a memeber website facilitating communicaton amoung peers, colleagues, and educational institutions. Currently there are approximately 349 individual members and 64 institutional members.
