01What it does

What Sankofa Leadership Initiative does

Mission

Sankofa is an inclusive community that provides access to leadership opportunities without the barrier of finances. Scholars of Sankofa are provided a platform to empower their voices through teaching fellow youth students in the martial arts program. We do this by combining martial arts training with social-emotional development suited for youth striving to become the best versions of themselves.

As stated on its FY2023 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Instructor Training: Provided youth with a low risk opportunity to build leadership skills through teaching martial arts classes. Conducted weekly training sessions to instruct them in teaching techniques and preparation for weekly classes

Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
