What Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community Inc does
Mission
Enrich lives and celebrate nature in southern Colorado
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.
Programs
Volunteers operate a once-a-month free pantry where clients are given a large box to fill with non-perishable foods, fresh produce, and household/personal items. The pantry also provides vouchers for bread and eggs from the only full-service grocery store within a 25-mile radius. Clients are required to provide their name and number of persons in their household, as required by Care and Share Food Bank of Southern Colorado, where a portion of the pantrys food is purchased or provided free of charge. Monetary donations, collected during monthly food collections, are also used to purchase food and other items not available at Care & Share. The pantry is the only one in the community which does not require recipients to income-qualify, which it is able to do because no federal or state funds have been requested for this project. Recipient numbers average 45 households per month. In January, 2023 VFC partnered with Care and Share to bring a monthly mobile food pantry to Colorado City. Recipients fill a large bag with fresh fruits, vegetables and other food items that volunteers arrange on shelves on one side of a large truck after retrieving them from the storage side of the truck.…

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2022 to 2023, from $665k to $638k (−4%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2021 68% · 2022 10%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
81% of Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community Inc’s revenue is contributions — more donation-reliant than the typical peer (77% for the typical peer).

Who funds it, year by year
2017 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income fell $4k → $1k.
1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 1% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
How concentrated its funding is
Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community Inc leans on a few funders — its largest provides 95% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
Largest funder’s share by year: 2017 100% · 2018 100% · 2019 100% · 2020 99% · 2021 79% · 2022 97% · 2023 92% — diversifying over time.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community Inc's grant income comes from Colorado funders.
In-state vs out-of-state, by year
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $335 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
