01What it does

What Salem Keizer Education Association does

Mission

Promote professional excellence by advocating for educational professionals.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Program

  1. The Salem Keizer Education Association had a successful academic year in 2024-2025. We completed the bargaining of a new contract that provided us reasonable cost of living increases, a higher contribution to health insurance, protections for educator directed time, class size language for elementary, a process to explore issues and concerns in special education, including workload. It was a successful bargain with more work to do in future bargains. We did a tremendous amount of research and surveyed members to find out what their needs are and how they can best be met. This is an ongoing process and will certainly continue into the year ahead. Our finances are stable with dues coming in ahead of projected amounts. We are continuing our focus on membership and have implemented a process to make sure every new hire receives at least three invitations to join our union. All in all, we are doing well and will continue to pursue better working conditions for all members.
