Program
Roots of renewal runs a reentry program for formerly incarcerated young men between the ages of 18 and 26. As a part of this program, we provide construction job training (both hands-on and certifications gained online), case management, professional development, and mentorship activities. In 2018, we worked with 10 individuals. All but one of them graduated from the program and we had a 10% recidivism rate. These individuals completed osha certifications got their twic cards, and learned hands-on job skills in carpentry, masonry, and more. The also participated in workships like financial management, mock interviews, and resume writing. We referred individuals to services in physical health, mental health, housing, childcare, and legal services.
