Programs
Sensory Friendly Playdates | Rooted Hearts Ministries hosted sensory adapted community playdate experiences for children with autism and sensory sensitivities and their families. In 2025 we served approximately 948 individuals by providing one structured sensory friendly playdate and co developing a community sensory room at Eastgate Charlotte to offer low stimulation regulation spaces during services and events. Parents reported increased awareness of community resources safer opportunities for family interaction and play and improved family bonding in an environment intentionally designed to meet diverse sensory and developmental needs. Volunteers reported greater understanding of autism and a stronger commitment to inclusion and community education.

In 2025 we distributed 2,109 sensory items engaged 102 volunteers across 6 volunteer opportunities and provided families with practical strategies and resource materials for use at home school and in the community. Caregivers reported improvements in communication increased tolerance for sensory input and textures reduced sensory sensitivities and better emotional regulation which together supported greater participation in community activities and strengthened overall family functioning.
