What Relief South Sudan does

Mission

Faith-based charity dedicated to helping widows and orphans in south sudan.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Relief South Sudan, with funding from Serve the Global Church, facilitated MAST training and launched 45 New Testament translation projects across South Sudan. Out of this, 30 New Testaments were fully completed, providing communities with access to scripture in their heart languages. New Testaments were printed and distributed, placing Gods word directly into the hands of local believers. To expand access further, 30 Old Testaments were fully completed, providing communities with access to scripture in their heart languages.

  2. We have funded trauma healing workshops in Kakuma refugee camp among the south Sudanese refugees. These individuals have fled their home region because of violence, and many of them have lost family members and witnessed acts of extreme violence. These workshops were facilitated by Timothy Ibrahim, a pastor at Kakuma refugee camp.

  3. Relief South Sudan has continued to support Benjamin Ibrahim and Jacob Wani, two young refugee men to attend university in Kenya. In Torit, South Sudan, Relief South Sudan provided school fees, learning supplies, and mentorship for 30 vulnerable children. Beneficiaries of the education program were primarily orphans and displaced children, who now enjoy consistent access to education.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 15% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of RELIEF SOUTH SUDAN’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

RELIEF SOUTH SUDAN leans on a few funders — its largest provides 79% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund RELIEF SOUTH SUDAN.
