01What it does

What Rebuild Communities Initiative does

Mission

The Rebuild Communities Initiative provides for the acquisition of distressed and foreclosed properties, education, training, technical assistance, tools and resources to allow public, private and nonprofit partners to stabilize communities and implement comprehensive long-term revitalization strategies and help families have a home. The Rebuild Communities Initiative will achieve these results with our alliances, community organizations, government and philanthropic institutions, as well as in conjunction with established Government programs such as Community Development Entities and Community Development Financial Institutions. Our first objective will be in the state of Hawaii due to the emergency proclamation established by the Governor to tackle homelessness in Hawaii which has the highest per capita rate of homelessness in the Nation. Permanent housing as a primary strategy for ending homelessness. We can't solve homelessness, together we can prevent it.

As stated on its FY2017 Form 990-EZ.

Program

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) publicly supported public charity formed to achieve our objective. We are group of public, private and non-profit, individuals, organizations, philanthropists, real estate experts, financial experts and legal council results driven alliances that will produce measurable and accountable results. We acquire properties at a substantially lower than market cost, 30% to 70% below market value, revitalize as needed, and offer as low income affordable housing at our cost plus 12% to cover costs for sustainability in the non profit and to acquire and revitalize additional properties. We acquire distressed and foreclosed properties, collaborate for education, training, technical assistance, tools and resources to allow public, private and nonprofit alliances to stabilize communities and implement comprehensive long-term revitalization strategies and help families have a home.

The first program described on its most recent Form 990-EZ.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of Rebuild Communities Initiative’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of Rebuild Communities Initiative's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
