01What it does

What Real Sports does

Mission

The purpose of REAL Sports is to minister to the whole person, radically equipping athletes for life. We seek to do this by developing individuals physically, emotionally, socially, relationally, and spiritually. It is the mission of REAL Sports to provide a positive, competitive, faith-based sports culture for players, parents, spectators, and coaches driven by a desire to honor Jesus Christ in and through sports.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. The heart of REAL Sports is to develop the whole person through a Christ-centered sports culture and to prepare athletes to achieve their fullest potential for God in all areas, including the sports they love. Our program services, which include open gyms, clinics, camps, and competitive club sports, seek to develop individuals through sport in each of these 5 distinct areas: physically, emotionally, socially, relationally, and spiritually. Our program services are conducted by coaches, trainers, and other volunteers. We conduct our program services at various athletic venues, some of which we are able to use at no charge and others for which we must pay rental fees. The percentage of time allocated to our program services was substantial, as activities took place multiple times each week for at least 6 months out of the year, and at least monthly for the other 6 months, with many of those months having multiple day activities. The program services offered by REAL Sports are funded by participation fees and donations. The exempt purpose for which REAL Sports is organized is to establish, maintain, promote, and operate a faith-based sports ministry that is religious, charitable,…

  2. Real Sports seeks to "love our neighbors" through serving our community. Sports offer a great platform for us to do this. We offered free clinics and trainings and partnered with other Christian sports entities, such as Upwards and Fellowship of Christian Athletes to provide resources and support for our community members. We also participate in other community outreach events as the Lord leads and opportunities arise. For example, in this fiscal year, we have collected and purchased back-to-school materials to donate to local schools, sponsored Christmas Angels through local schools, and served alongside church ministries in ministering to various needs in the community. Our community outreach endeavors are conducted by volunteers and take place in various sectors of the community, including schools, churches, and neighborhoods. The percentage of time allocated to our community outreach events varies based on need and opportunity. Community outreach events offered by REAL Sports are funded by donations. The exempt purpose for which REAL Sports is organized is to establish, maintain, promote, and operate a faith-based sports ministry that is religious, charitable, and educational.…
