What Rappahannock Communities does

Mission

Rappahannock Communities (rc) will engage in activities that build a healthier and more resilient rappahannock county. Our mission is to work collaboratively toward the creation of lasting solutions for at-risk families, children and individuals in rappahannock. Rc will advocate for a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the heath, well-being and stability of those it serves. The organization will undertake the following projects and goals in a manner that is designed to accomplish one or more purposes within the meaning of the 501(c)3.

As stated on its FY2022 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. 1) provide affordable workforce and elderly/disabled housing;2) incentivize efforts to ensure the county meets the housing needs of all members of the community, including the elderly, veterans, underemployed and disabled;3) support community planning and development that enhances the rational use of public and private real estate and infrastructure in the county; and 4) identify and rehabilitate existing individually owned substandard (unsafe and unhealthy) housing.

Each line starts at 100 in 2020, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2020, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2021: the base narrowed from 3 funders to 2 funders, grant income fell $113k → $35k.

1 of 4 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 7% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
