01What it does

What Qlab Accelerator Inc does

Mission

In short: turning the best technical talent at Harvard and MIT into defense tech founders, with real government customers from day one.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

  1. National Security Innovation Accelerator: Operated a summer accelerator program for dual-use defense technology startups founded by Harvard and MIT students. Cohort 1 (2024): 14 teams; 9 raised pre-seed rounds; 2 closed seed funding ($1M-$5M); 2 accepted to Y Combinator; 2 received Palantir fellowships; 8 companies secured government contracts (SBIRs, CRADAs, IDIQs) across DARPA, SOCOM, JSOC, DLA, NGA, and NSA. Cohort 2 (2025): expanded to 20 teams with new coverage in shipbuilding, maritime autonomy, and advanced manufacturing. Provided over $300K in non-dilutive funding to participating teams.

  2. Speaker Series & Community Programming: Hosted 20+ speaker sessions and workshops for student founders and the broader Harvard-MIT national security community. Featured speakers included Steve Blank, Brandon Tseng (Shield AI), Chris Miller (author of Chip War), Justin Fanelli (CTO of the Navy), Heidi Shyu, Eric Evans (MIT Lincoln Lab), and leaders from Palantir, Anthropic, HawkEye 360, Shield Capital, Founder Collective, Wilson Sonsini, SpaceWERX, and USSOCOM. Built a practitioner-mentor network pairing student teams with senior directors from DoD and the intelligence community.
