What Puget Sound Veterans Hope Center does
Mission
To end Veteran homelessness by providing encouragement, resources and one-on-one support by Veterans helping Veterans.
As stated on its FY2020 Form 990-EZ.
Program
The Puget Sound Veterans Hope Center (PSVHC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) veterans organization operated by veterans whose mission is to serve homeless veterans and their associated families members. They do this by providing immediate emergency housing, supplies and services, medical and mental health referrals, employment and training assistance; food and transportation support to and from the VA Hospital. The PSVHC operates and manages a clean and sober 10 bed sleeping room designated for homeless veterans in need of immediate shelter at the Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM). The 1st phase of the program Short Term Shelter has proven to be successful. Operating with the philosophy of immediate housing/shelter, PSVHC has been able to provide over 450 homeless veterans with a place to sleep, bus passes, referrals to community resources, clothing and hygiene supplies. Program services provide stability, consistency and support which allow the veterans to focus less on living defensively by being concerned with their next sleeping location, meal and how to protect what little belongings they possess but rather provides an opportunity to be proactive.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2018 to 2019, from $127k to $88k (−30%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
100% of Puget Sound Veterans Hope Center’s revenue is contributions — more reliant on donations than three-quarters of its peers (100% for the typical peer).
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 3 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base held at 1 funder, grant income fell $37 → $29.
1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.
From the IRS filings of Puget Sound Veterans Hope Center’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of Puget Sound Veterans Hope Center's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $156 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
