01What it does

What PTA North Carolina Congress does

Mission

Northwoods parent teacher association primary exempt purpose is to support the Northwoods Elementary School and students through the donations and volunteer efforts of parents and teachers. Our volunteers work on many programs within the school with direct impact to students. The donations from various local companies, and parents help fill the gaps left by local educational funding.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. The Northwoods PTA provides classroom setup grants available to all 55 teachers, teacher assistants, and counselors assigned to Northwood Elementary School. The grant is worth up to $100 per recipient and must be used for supplies that will be used with in the classrooms each teacher is assigned. Many of our teachers use the funds to acquire lesson materials or aids that aren't available via traditional public school funds. This year 31 of the 55 staff applied for and received grants

  2. The PTA purchased and had installed 4 water bottle refill stations in the school for use by the student body. The existing water fountains allowed for fountain drinking but with the change in behavior from COVID the water bottle fill stations allows the children to fill their own bottles.

$0 spentof which $3,454 as grants
  3. The PTA sponsored 4 cultural arts programs to perform in front of the school student body. These local artists from the United Arts Council provide outreach and exposure of artistic expression to the students.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 19% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $832 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
