What PTA California Congress of Parents Teachers & Students Inc does
Mission
The organization's primary exempt purpose is to support and enrich the educational experience of all students at Ardenwood Elementary School. We do this by fostering close cooperation among families, educators, and the wider community; funding programs that enhance academic, cultural, and social development; and providing resources that help ensure an inclusive, engaging, and safe school environment. The PTA raises funds to offer classroom and school-wide grants, student enrichment programs, cultural celebrations, STEM activities, health and wellness initiatives, and community-building events. We coordinate volunteers, share information with families, and partner with school staff to address student needs that are not covered by district funding. Our focus is to expand learning opportunities, promote family engagement, and support the well-being and success of every student.
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Programs
Classroom grants are intended to give teachers the ability to provide meaningful, curriculum-aligned learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. The purpose of these grants is to enrich student learning by funding activities that deepen understanding, spark curiosity, and connect academic concepts to the real world. Teachers typically use these grants to support educational field trips, on-campus assemblies, guest presenters, hands-on demonstrations, and other experiential learning opportunities tied to their grade-level curriculum. These experiences help bring lessons to life, increase student engagement, and offer all students-regardless of background-equal access to high-quality enrichment opportunities. Benefits over 650 students.

Social events give students opportunities to interact with peers in a fun, relaxed setting outside of academics. These activities help students build friendships, practice social skills, develop confidence, and feel more connected to their school community. By creating joyful shared experiences, socials contribute to stronger relationships and a positive sense of belonging. Multicultural events celebrate the diversity of the school community and help students learn about cultures, traditions, and perspectives different from their own. These events promote curiosity, respect, and appreciation for the backgrounds represented at school. They also provide families with opportunities to share their heritage in ways that elevate student pride and strengthen cross-cultural understanding. Benefits over 650 students and their families.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2019, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2019, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2019 to 2020, from $17k to $27k (+64%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 2 of the last 3 reported years ran a deficit.
Who funds it, year by year
2020 → 2023: the base narrowed from 2 funders to 1 funder, grant income fell $9k → $188.
2 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

How concentrated its funding is
PTA CALIFORNIA CONGRESS OF PARENTS TEACHERS & STUDENTS INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 89% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.
the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left
100% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund PTA CALIFORNIA CONGRESS OF PARENTS TEACHERS & STUDENTS INC.
Largest funder’s share by year: 2020 97% · 2021 100% · 2022 100% · 2023 100% — growing more concentrated.
“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
Where its funders are
100% of PTA CALIFORNIA CONGRESS OF PARENTS TEACHERS & STUDENTS INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.
Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $9k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
