Mission

We strive to positively affect our community and alter the trajectory of its residents. We work toward our goal by promoting self-awareness, providing intergenerational mentoring, and offering opportunities for skill-building, training, and education. We're guided by our values: Health: We support holistic health care, which includes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Opportunity: We ensure equality and equity for those who are often overlooked. Purpose: We help people develop their talents and creativity, helping them succeed and improving society for all. Education: We provide opportunities for people to acquire knowledge and skills, a key component of upward mobility and poverty reduction. Empowerment: We promote a safe, uplifting environment where people recognize their power to oppress but to liberate.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Back to School Bash: Started in 2013 as a way to connect the community to resources that promote education and empowerment. It's held annually right before school starts. This free event gives away over 1,000 backpacks with school supplies and includes local non-profit organizations. Project Hope purchases the back packs that are filled with supplies.

MENTORING PROGRAM: - We supported New Hope Baptist Church by helping cover the cost of transportation for Local high school students to attend the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) football game and engaging with over 50 HBCU representatives about admission opportunities. The student would have the opportunity to attend the HBCU college fair, battle of the bands, tailgating, and the football game. ANY high schooler is welcome to attend, and scholarships will be offered as well.

The festivities will take place on June 15, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will include local vendors, social services, music, food trucks, activities and much more. While this significant milestone is typically noted by African-Americans; this gathering will be welcoming and inviting to everyone. -Fire Victims Donations $1,000.00: There was a fire in a building in a Dekalb IL apartment building that displaced 10 families that included 40 people. Several NFPs and Social Services are helping but more support is needed. Project HOPE partnered with New Hope, First Lutheran Church, and United Methodist Church in Sycamore, and Passion over Profits. Each organization would contribute $1000 ($5000 total) and give each family a gift card for $500.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of PROJECT HOPE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of PROJECT HOPE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $55k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
