What Prairie Rose Development Corp does
Mission
economic development and small business job creation
As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.
Program
Prairie Rose Development successfully launched a statewide Kiva Hub for Colorado in late 2021. Kiva is a crowd-funded 0% interest rate small business loan program (loans in the range of $1,000 to $15,000) for otherwise financially excluded entrepreneurs looking to create socially impactful small businesses that have the potential to create jobs in their local communities. Two part-time bilingual Capital Access Managers hired by Prairie Rose have provided technical assistance and funding help to more than 500 existing and potential small business owners access the Kiva program since Prairie Rose was founded. Twenty loans totaling $202,000 were funded in 2025 by 3,774 individual lenders. Eighty-five percent of all loans were made to woman-owned businesses, 25% to Latino-owned businesses, 20% to Black-owned businesses, 35% to rural-based small businesses, 30% or recipient borrowers were immigrants, and 45% of all Colorado Kiva borrowers indicated that funds would be used to help hire new employees.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2021, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2021, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2021 to 2022, from $70k to $31k (−55%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Surplus & reserves
Operating surplus or deficit each year, and months of liquidity in hand. 3 of the last 5 reported years ran a deficit.
