Program
We mentor working musicians on how to use their talent and time to 'give back' to the community by participating in fundraising events, mostly for veterans charities around wny. Approx 5% of time spent is in carrying out the events and 95% of the time is spent doing outreach, networking & meeting with musicians, venues, administrative needs, seeking event sponsorships, and others, mentoring/educating on the why and how of these activities. The events use the brand "buffalo blues benefit for veterans or just "buffalo blues" under a gratis license (free) of the musician/artist that designed it (bob james, 55 year history as wny working musician). In season 3 (09/01/18 - 08/31/19) we held 13 events. The frequency of events increases operational costs. The 13 events we held engaged 186 musicians playing sets. Power of song provides gratis consulting as chair of the community veterans engagement board of wny in building a collaboration of over 100 members, including 40 organizations working with veterans.
