$232,535 spent40% of program spendingThe petrified forest field institute (pffi) is the educational outreach branch of pfma and was formed in 2015 at the request of the park service to be the vehicle by which visitors could access sections of the park limited by agreement with the state land trust office. The checkerboard ownership of the expanded park lands is such that it requires this agreement to access federal lands by and through state lands and stipulates that the public access be limited to guided programmatic tours. In 2024, pffi conducted a total of 15 custom guided tours to various park destinations, 8 scheduled programmatic hikes/workshops, which served 111 visitors, 4 bus tours with a combined 160 visitors. Pffi's biggest expenses are the guides and outfitters insurance and intstructor fees.

The organization over time
Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.
Balance sheet
Total assets and total liabilities at each year end, in dollars. The largest one-year move in total assets was 2020 to 2021, from $541k to $934k (+73%).
How it's funded, over time
Each bar is one year's revenue split into where it came from, and every bar is the same height — these are shares, not amounts, so a year that raised twice as much looks the same size. Hover a bar for the split.
Government-grant reliance: 2020 2% · 2021 7% · 2022 9%. Grants only. Government contracts and fees sit inside program revenue.
