01What it does

What Paws for Putnam does

Mission

To end the deaths of adoptable dogs and cats at the Putnam County Animal Control in Palatka, FL. We seek to accomplish this through grants and programs aimed at promoting spay and neuter initiatives and educating the public on the importance of such programs. We also seek to reduce the surrendering of pets through education, training and sharing of resources.

As stated on its FY2023 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. $1443 was spent for heartworm medicine. Heartworm positive dogs received a one year's supply of heartworm medicine when a heartworm positive dog was adopted.

  2. 50 dogs were adopted at pet friendly stores. Getting dogs out of the remotely situated shelter is important. It is closed on weekends and has short hours during the week. Charitable mileage was 2,851 and an average of 17 hours per week on dog adoptions and other activities.

  3. 9,586 charity mileage, 135 trips to transport shelter pets to vets for spay and neuter, medical needs, offsite events, rescues for adoption, pick up donated pet food, and training dogs.

  4. $2,620 adoption costs reimbursed to animal control. As a result, dogs and cats were adopted for free during one summer month. Without the adoptions, the shelter was severly over capacity.

Who funds it, year by year

2020 → 2023: the base broadened from 1 funder to 2 funders, grant income rose $500 → $7k.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 0% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $175 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
