01What it does

What Moph Fund Inc does

Mission

Our organization brings combat wounded veterans and patriotic donors together so that we can help promote their recovery as they spilled their blood in the name of our nations freedom. Our sole purpose is to raise funds for programs executed by the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Our goal is to help make sure their programs receive robust support so that more Purple Heart recipients and their families can be provided the necessary assistance. We represent the thousands of servicemen and women who were wounded actively defending our country in times of war. Their voices must be heard and their sacrifices should be known. We work tirelessly to ensure that these patriots are cared for on their paths to recovery. The MOPH Fund is to provide essential assistance to America's Veterans and their Families by directly supporting the programs and services of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990.

Programs

On its FY2025 return the organization reported a significant change in how it conducts a program.

Number and composition of the Board of Directors was reduced with less reliance on positions held in the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA Inc.

Its own explanation, from Schedule O of that return (Part III, line 3).

  1. Our only program is supporting the Military Order of the Purple Heart of the USA Order. We continue to establish initial contacts with potential sources of revenue, documenting specific process to process the Orders requests for support, and raising limited funds to be distributed in 2025. We were able to raise $30,030 for restricted use and $163,860 for unresticted use which included an unusual grant of $100,000. We provided two $10,000 grants, restricted for disaster relief, and one $10,000 restricted grant, Veteran Advocacy, National Convention, to the Order. We provided one unrestricted grant of $100,000 and another for $57,400 to support Veteran Advocacy Programs operated by orgainzations outside the Order.

03Who funds it

Who funds it, year by year

Grant support over time, funder by funder — shade shows the grant size each year.

2 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 83% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of MOPH FUND INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

MOPH FUND INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 82% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

83% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MOPH FUND INC.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

83% of MOPH FUND INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $1k that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from funders outside Virginia, across 1 state.

TX

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $5k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
