Program

  1. Walleye stocking program as part of an ongoing project to improve the fisheries in Pope County, MN. MLA supplements the Minnesota DNR's stocking program and habitat program in this endeavor. The organization also provides the lead role in identifying invasive species and working with the Minnesota DNR in the treatment of affected areas of the lake. The organization also took on the "Lets go Fishing" project. This project provides a pontoon staffed by volunteers to take senior citizens of our area out on Lake Minnewaska for fishing, sight seeing and recreational opportunities. The outings happen one to two times per week, weather permitting. As part of the Let's Go Fishing endeavor, the organization acquired the pontoon, motor and trailer formerly owned by the Let's Go Fishing organization, along with assuming the debt on the equipment. This action was taken to assure continuation of the program on Lake Minnewaska. The organization also participates in monitoring and controlling invasive species and water testing and sampling programs and is involved in ongoing discussions involving invasive species, shoreline erosion and water level issues.

How concentrated its funding is

MINNEWASKA LAKE ASSOCIATION INC leans on a few funders — its largest provides 97% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

97% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund MINNEWASKA LAKE ASSOCIATION INC.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $17k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
