What Mastersingers USA Inc does

Mission

Mastersingers USA, Inc.'s mission is to promote excellence in fine arts education through choral music by providing time, materials, talents, and financial support. Our main program consists of an amateur male chorus group whose members are generally not professional musicians but are individuals with a passion for male chorus music. As part of our mission, the group gathered in West Roxbury, MA in June, 2024 to offer a performance at St. Theresa of Avila Church as well as events at nearby Roxbury Latin School with selected students interested in our music. We currently plan an even in June 2024 in Minneapolis, MN that will serve as preparation for our expected 2025 International Tour to Italy

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Mastersingers USA, Inc. (MUSA) exists to promote excellence in fine arts education through choral music. We accomplish this by providing the time, materials, talents, and financial support for our members and others to perform choral music. Our primary service accomplishment in the past year was a 9-day concert tour in Paris and the surrounding area in July 2019. Concerts included performances at Rouen Cathedral, a concert at Chartres Cathedral, and three concerts at churches in Paris (including a concert at La Madeleine, following cancellation of a planned concert at Notre-Dame de Paris after its fire). The locations for our concerts were specifically chosen to enhance the performance and quality of the music performed since so much of the repertoire was written to be performed in these churches, or in houses of worship very much like these. In each case, at the request of a local arts group, MUSA performed a 60-70 minute concert which included classical choral works, traditional folk songs of different countries, music by French composers, and classic American choral works (including folksongs and spirituals). Audiences for MUSA's concerts ranged from 100-500 for each concert. A…

  2. As part of our ongoing commitment to our mission, MUSA completed an 11-day Tour of Austria in 2025. The Tour included 7 concerts and contributed musical accompaniment to 2 masses (Karlskirsche & St. Stephan's Dom in Vienna). We also hosted choral seminar in Obdach, Austria to 25 school children focused on musical theory and singing techniques. Previously, MUSA gathered in Minneapolis, MN in 2024 (no performance scheduled) and West Roxbury, MA in June 2023 to perform a concert at St. Theresa Avila Church as well as provide lessons and musical teaching to selected students at Roxbury Latin School.

Each line starts at 100 in 2018, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2018, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of MASTERSINGERS USA INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of MASTERSINGERS USA INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $10k arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
