Mission

The Maine Center for Creativitys mission is to promote the growth of the arts and creative industries in Maine. This is achieved by creating projects and programs that promote the arts and stimulate the economy by contributing to the growth of Maines creative industries and professions. We do this by:1) Creating high-visibility public art projects that capture the imagination and foster the art of the possible,2) Creating programming and networking that support people working in the creative industries, and3) Stimulating innovative enterprise and interaction through regional, national and international collaborations, partnerships and educational initiatives, which lead to increasing the import and export of innovation to/from Maine.

As stated on its FY2017 Form 990-EZ.

Program

Art All Around - a collaborative community art initiative launched in 2016 that brings diverse local partners (schools, non-profits, businesses, local artists and other residents) together to create large-scale temporary art installations in outdoor public spaces in the downtown area of cities and towns across Maine. The program's pilot project took place in Westbrook, Maine in 2016, and was repeated in Westbrook in June of 2017. The program was also expanded to Biddeford in September of 2017.

The first program described on its most recent Form 990-EZ.

How concentrated its funding is

Maine Center for Creativity leans on a few funders — its largest provides 96% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

96% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund Maine Center for Creativity.
