01What it does

What Livelikejohnny Foundation does

Mission

The livelikejohnny organization supports the engagement of at-risk, underserved and often times overlooked young people who have a potential for personal and professional success. Our faith-based approach is designed to ignite the passion for living an extraordinary life... Just like johnny.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Through scholarships we invest in young adults who desire to further their education after graduation from high school but may not have the means to do so. At risk and underserved students may apply for a one-time scholarship to assist in the next step of their education journey. By investing in these students, we hope to give them the tools to invest in their future and achieve their potential for personal and professional success.

  2. The jackets for johnny program gives the gift of the legendary ffa blue jacket to students who are not able to afford it. The ffa program for students interested in agriculture and leadership was close to johnny's heart. The iconic blue ffa jacket carries significant value and respect, a source of community and pride. Through this program, we give ffa members the chance to wear a piece of history and experience the pride of wearing their own blue jacket.

2 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 93% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of LIVELIKEJOHNNY FOUNDATION’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

How concentrated its funding is

LIVELIKEJOHNNY FOUNDATION leans on a few funders — its largest provides 88% of grant income and the top three 100%; half comes from just 1 funder.

the vertical line marks half of all grant income — 1 funder to its left

93% of the income these shares are computed over arrives through pass-through sponsors or from payers whose filings do not say what kind of payment it is. Concentration is still measured over all of it, because the money is real; what it does not support is a claim about how many institutions have chosen to fund LIVELIKEJOHNNY FOUNDATION.

“Effective funders” = inverse Herfindahl index (1 / Σ shareᵢ²) — the number of equal-sized funders that would give the same concentration. Where its funders are

93% of LIVELIKEJOHNNY FOUNDATION's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Of the $500 that is directly attributable, 100% of it comes from Texas funders.

TX

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $7k arriving through sponsors registered in 2 states is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
