01What it does

What Listen4life Foundation does

Mission

Our mission is to inspire and empower musicians of all cultures to use their gifts in the service of others through our wide range of projects, productions, programs and partners, we impact the lives of people across the usa and the world.

As stated on its FY2021 Form 990.

Program

People's Choir of Oakland (ListenForLife.org/PCO) : new, fiscally sponsored project of LFL, co-founded by opera legend Frederica von Stade and opera singer/film producer Nicolle Foland. Project mission is to provide choral training/singing experiences to unhoused people throughout the Oakland Bay Area (California). Scheduled 2021 group rehearsals and performances were all cancelled/postponed due to Covid restrictions in Bay Area. But much was accomplished in terms of creating the operations/artistic team, infrastructure, rehearsal locations, and establishing a reliable funding base (individual donors and grants).

The first program described on its most recent Form 990, which lists programs largest first by expense.

Each line starts at 100 in 2017, so what you read is the shape rather than the size: 150 means half as much again as 2017, 50 means half. The number beside each label in the key is where it ended. The shaded band is where the middle 50% of its peers' revenue would sit, given their growth.

1 of 2 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 24% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Where its funders are

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $95 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
