01What it does

What Liss Fain Dance Inc does

Mission

Research the impact of dance on the life of people of the san francisco area and educate the public about the results through classes, workshops, performances, public assistance and publications.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Liss Fain Dance and Z Space co-presented sold out performances at Z Space. In the spring, LFD taught a series of free outreach workshops to middle schoolers at 826 Valencia, a non-profit organization supporting andteaching creativity and writing to young students. The outreach program with 826 Valencia, which Ms. Fain designed and developed, has been ongoing since 2011. These workshops are not paid; the cost to Liss Fain Dance is covered through contributions and a grant from the Kellogg Foundation. In FY24, in addition to the workshops at 826 Valencia, the company is developing a new outreach program pre-professionals, using their personal stories as the foundation for movement pieces. In FY24 Yerba Buena Center for the Arts invited Liss Fain Dance to premiere an installation work as part of Art Week SF in 2026. Yerba Buena Center for the Arts will present Liss Fain Dance, give the company an artist fee, and mount a retrospective of their work as part of the Yerba Buena Galleries. The board members remain the same, with the exception of Lynn Rankin who passed away in August of 2024.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of LISS FAIN DANCE INC’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of LISS FAIN DANCE INC's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $53 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
