What Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation a New Jersey Non-Profit Corporation does

Mission

Mission Statement: Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation (LGEF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2008 by a group of neighbors. Our mission is to raise awarenessof those around us - our fellow neighbors - that are in need of assistance. Just as a lifeguard sits on a stand and actively searches for those in need, such is the purpose of LGEF.

As stated on its FY2023 Form 990-EZ.

Programs

  1. Paid rent for local man. Individual is a longtime volunteer and contributor to the local Fire Department and First Aid Squad. Not unlike other ailments, Brian's weight presented a challenging health and work obstacle. He faced this challenge head on, and despite some other medical setbacks requiring hospitalization he was finally able to have a life-changing gastric sleeve surgical procedure in June 2023. LGEF assisted Brian with rent during this time of recovery so he could focus on long-term mental and physical health.

  2. Paid rent for local family. Their daughter was diagnosed a month after she was born with congenital myotonic dystrophy a neuromuscular condition. As a result she has severe muscle weakness. Because of her condition she requires out patient physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy at a great cost to the family. She had surgery a year ago to correct her clubbed feet to give her the ability to walk. She is walking with the assistance of a posterior walker but needs these therapies so that she does not lose what she has gained. The family simply did not have the money to pay for the therapies that my daughter so desperately needs. The father works three jobs to support the family, but it still isn't enough to cover all of the monthly expenses. By paying their rent, they were able to continue to pay for the therapies for their daughter.

  3. Paid for handicap ramp rental and van rental for local man injured at work. Individual suffered electrocution and fall while at work and had to undergo several surgeries. During recovery, he needed a temporary ramp installed outside his house in order to get back and forth to doctor's appointments and therapies. We also assisted with renting a van so he could attend these appointments.

  4. in 2023 we assisted 13 families, affecting approximately 25 individuals. The circumstances of each family and/or individual varied. As was the case in 2022, the biggest form of help needed again this year was with housing. We helped pay rent for 5 families totaling 21 months. We also helped a single mother with a car payment when she was out of work and looking for a new job. While she was looking for a full-time position, she held down 3 temporary jobs and needed to keep her transportation order to get to these positions. For a young woman who is trying to attend and graduate cosmetology school, we provided a monthly bus pass, enabling her to attend class. We also assisted a family of 11 with a memorial meal who lost their mother from sudden heart failure at age 44.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Where its funders are

100% of LIFE GUARD ECUMENICAL FOUNDATION A NEW JERSEY NON-PROFIT CORPORATION's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $146 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
