01What it does

What Imi Ola Canoe Club does

Mission

To maintain and perpetuate hawaiian culture through the promotion of hawaiian watersports. To teach, train, instruct, and expose children, men and women in the ancient art, craft, and history of hawaiian canoeing. To provide the means, equipment, and facilities for canoe activities tending to foster the development and maintenance of strong and healthy minds, bodies, and spirit among all people.

As stated on its FY2025 Form 990-EZ.

Program

  1. Imi Ola Canoe Club participated in the hui waa racing association spring preseason and summer regatta season with 145 registered members racing in fifteen races. Of the 145 paddlers, 46 student members also participated in the na opio canoe racing association for children aged 7 - 18, competing in four races. There was also a student crew of nine paddlers who competed during the long distance and one-man canoe race season. Imi ola paid fees and sponsored paddlers to compete in the world sprints in hilo, hawaii. In addition to teaching members how to train and compete in the hawaiian sport of canoe paddling, they are taught hawaiian protocol and values of kuleana (responsibility), malama (caring for the canoes, the practice site, and collecting rubbish in the ocean), lokahi (unity as a crew and a club), haahaa (humility), pono (doing what is correct and proper), and aloha. Cultural activities include learning the history of mauli ola, environmental sustainability, and making crafts.

1 of 1 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 100% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

From the IRS filings of IMI OLA CANOE CLUB’s funders (the co-funder graph). Association, not causation. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.

Where its funders are

100% of IMI OLA CANOE CLUB's grant income arrives through donor-advised or pass-through sponsors, whose addresses record where the money is held rather than where the donor is. Too little is directly attributable to place on a map.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $79 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been. Trends are read to FY2023, the last fiscal year that has finished arriving. FY2024–FY2026 are still being filed and are shown unshaded; they do not move any figure on this page.
