01What it does

What Hoyce Youth Foundation does

Mission

The HOYCE Youth Center is a not for profit organization dedicated to decreasing violence against youth by conducting educational and positive recreational activities in order to increase youth awareness of options. Through life skills, self-management, and educational support we afford youth the opportunity for positive self expression and positive sense of self, which ultimately creates a better quality of life.

As stated on its FY2024 Form 990.

Programs

  1. Back to School - In preparation for going back to school, The H.O.Y.C.E. Center hosts two events. In the Urbana Champaign area, we partner with other organizations to give away backpacks filled with school supplies. In Chicago, we manage the Kids Corner as part of the Annual Bronzeville Summer Jazz Event. As part of the events, we provide backpacks filled with school supplies along with refreshments and entertainment. Since the onset of the pandemic, we began to include stress kits in each backpack to support youth during these stressful times.

1 of 3 of your funders are donor-advised or pass-through sponsors (tagged DAF) — 3% of grant dollars received. That money is really individual donors directing a sponsor; the institutions to cultivate are the non-DAF funders.

Funder states come from each funder’s own filing. $49 arriving through sponsors registered in 1 state is excluded from the map and the split above: a sponsor holds money on a donor’s behalf, so its registered address would place those dollars somewhere no donor need ever have been.
